How do neuromodulators work?

At Elevé, we offer Botox, Dysport, and Jeuveau, each of which are known as “neuromodulators.” This means they interact directly with the nerves that are contributing to the presence of fine lines and wrinkles.

Throughout the day, you use your facial muscles to speak and make just about any facial expression you can think of. Over the years, this constant use can cause wrinkles and lines to form above the muscles.

Neuromodulators work their magic, then, by interrupting the signals that tell these muscles to move, effectively paralyzing them and preventing them from causing the formation of those pesky fine lines and wrinkles.

As a result, your skin is smoother and your appearance is more youthful looking, effectively turning back the clock for naturally refreshed appearance.

What do I do before my treatment?

Before the day of your Botox in Wausau, we’ll set up a consultation or two, giving you the chance to meet with a member of our highly-experienced aesthetics team. This will be your opportunity to ask just about any question you might have, so you can head into your procedure feeling completely relaxed and comfortable before getting started.

How does the actual treatment work?

The procedure itself is actually quite simple and quick, and can be completed during any standard lunch break! Neuromodulators are administered using a very fine gauge needle, and we’ll help you out with a topical numbing cream if that might make the procedure more comfortable for you.

We’ll make the injections in the treatment area as decided before your procedure, and once the injections are complete, you’re good to go! You’ll likely experience a bit of bruising and tenderness near the location of the actual injections, but this should be mild and will fade over the first day or so.

Otherwise, you won’t have much in the way of a recovery period at all! You’ll be able to resume your daily activities as soon as your injections are done, with those mild side effects being the only thing keeping you from fully enjoying your day. Full results are typically seen after two to three sessions.
