How Does Juvéderm Work, Exactly?
Juvéderm is made of a synthetic version of a compound called hyaluronic acid (or “HA” for short), which is normally made naturally by your body. As you age, however, your body makes less of it...a process that can also be helped along by sun exposure and other environmental factors.
By injecting hyaluronic acid into the treatment area, Juvederm plumps and fills the nearby tissues, while also encouraging the retention of moisture in the area, enabling your skin to stay naturally healthy and retain that youthful glow for longer. The process only takes about 15 minutes or so.
The injections are made with a very fine needle, and we’ll help you with a topical numbing cream if that’ll make you feel a bit more comfortable with the process. You’ll need to avoid exercise, sun exposure, and alcohol for about the first 24 hours after your Juvederm treatment, but there’s no downtime beyond this.
