What is the Sciton HALO laser?

Sciton’s HALO laser is a resurfacing skin treatment that can be customized to meet your unique skincare needs. It is a non-invasive, relatively painless treatment that requires little to no downtime. It peels away the top layer of skin with specific wavelengths of laser energy, getting rid of the buildup of dead skin cells that cause a dull appearance, reducing wrinkles, and resolving hyperpigmentation. The new, healthy layer of new skin beneath emerges, while the boost in the production of collagen and elastin continue to rebuild the skin from within.

Who is a candidate for Sciton HALO laser?

Men or women who would like to address skin flaws and imperfections to achieve a more youthful, radiant appearance are likely candidates for HALO laser resurfacing. Sciton’s HALO is safe for any skin type or color. Ideal candidates meet the following criteria:

  • Are generally healthy
  • Have no outbreaks or infections of the skin in the targeted treatment area
  • Do not have active acne

What to expect during the HALO laser treatment

We will begin by applying a topical anesthetic on your skin to ensure your procedure is comfortable. We will then use motion tracking technology to measure the targeted treatment area for your HALO laser resurfacing. This ensures the full area is treated evenly.

Each treatment section will be addressed by rolling the HALO laser handpiece over the skin. As the process takes place, progress is measured by the Sciton system which will recognize the evenness of the treatment and signal its completion.

The topical anesthetic combined with Sciton’s integrated cooling technology makes the treatment less uncomfortable for patients. However, you will experience a feeling of heat and occasional prickling sensations. You will continue to feel the heating sensation after the treatment, which dissipates in one or two hours.

How Many Laser Treatments Do I Need?

The HALO laser treatments are customized exactly for you. We will advise you on the number of treatments we recommend once we have evaluated your skin and understood your goals for rejuvenation. One treatment will provide many benefits, while several will create a more dramatic renewal.

HALO treatments can also be tailored to your preferences in terms of the strength of the treatment. You may opt for one aggressive treatment, achieving an immediate, significant effect, or decide on a number of more gentle treatments that achieve your goals over a longer period of time.

Your HALO laser skin resurfacing treatments are designed in collaboration with you to fit your aesthetic goals and your lifestyle.

Results After Halo Laser Resurfacing

You will be able to notice the results of your HALO skin resurfacing treatments immediately. Skin will be tighter and more supple, and improvements will continue over the following weeks as collagen and elastin continue to rebuild the skin structure and erase discoloration, resulting in smoother texture, enhanced skin tone, and reduced signs of aging.

Recovery After Halo Laser Treatments

1-2 days of recovery will be needed after your laser treatment. Your skin will feel and look mildly or moderately sunburnt. The dull top layer of skin will slough off over the next few days, revealing the renewed skin underneath. Patients can wear makeup within 24 hours of the treatment to cover the redness, but be sure not to pick at the skin as it begins to come off, as this can impair healing and results.

How soon after HALO can I return to normal activities?

How soon will I see results after HALO?

Your healing process after Halo can take up to 2 weeks, as the skin sheds its outer damaged layer. Once this outer skin has been shed, your complexion will appear softer, smoother, and more youthful. You should continue to cleanse and exfoliate the skin at home in order to preserve your results.

Is HALO treatment painful?

Your practitioner will apply a topical anesthetic to the skin to ensure your comfort during your session. Most clients experience Halo as a mild warm prickling sensation. Following Halo, we will apply a healing gel to help moisturize the skin.

How soon after HALO can I return to normal activities?

Patients can typically resume normal activities after 24 hours. For the first day, however, you should take care to follow our instructions and avoid direct sun exposure. Your skin will begin peeling; however, this won’t typically impede your ability to apply makeup. Within 3-4 days, you’ll see a beautiful, pristine new layer of skin emerge.
